A realistic, deep red colour, suitable for all skin tones.

Dark Red is the original colour created on Last House on the Left. It works well with water and is the perfect ‘ all round ‘ colour, suitable for most mediums used in film and television. It’s a realistic, deep red colour that works with all skin tones, costumes, props and prosthetic materials.

AGED BLOOD

A dark red / brown color with yellow / gold undertones

Aged Blood is a darker, more orange based red that is increasingly more popular with the Make-up and Art Departments. It works well with light to medium skin tones and looks good on prop materials such as metal, glass, wood and tiles. Also suitable for use on prosthetics.

DARK AGED BLOOD

A very dark, brown based red that reads as 2-3 day old blood.

Dark Aged is a really dark colour that looks more brown than red. It reads as an older blood and works well with light to medium skin tones. Also suitable for use on costumes, props and prosthetics.

FRESH RED BLOOD

All Departments

A bright, fresh red the reads as very fresh oxygenated blood.

Fresh Red is a light, red colour with yellow undertones. It reads as a fresh oxygenated blood and works well with medium to dark skin tones. Fresh Red works best if blue filters or dark grading are used during filming. Suitable for use on costumes, props and prosthetics.

LIGHT BLOOD

Has a light pigment, that reads as a bright red, with yellow undertones

Light Blood is light in pigment and has a transparent, red colour with yellow undertones. It works well if blue filters or dark grading are used during filming. Suitable for all skin tones, props and prosthetics.

Inspiration

How SIMONE’S blood was born…..

Simone’s story

Simone Stubbs is a South African born, professional makeup artist who completed her training in London, UK in the 1990’s. Simone has worked in the International Film and Television Industry since 1998 and developed her artificial blood recipe on a horror called The Last House On The Left in 2008.

Simone recently travelled to Sydney, Australia to set up and arrange a local manufacturer of SIMONE’S Blood products. Any direct orders from Australia and New Zealand will be locally manufactured in Sydney for a faster, more convenient turn around.

After testing twenty different international bloods under the conditions that were required for the film, which was lots of rain and water, I realised that none of them looked realistic. They also beaded on the skin and did not hold their pigment while in a pool of water. I created my recipe by testing on clothing, skin and water until I found the perfect realistic colour and consistency.
